K E Y N O T E : Ashley Bryan

Ashley Bryan's numerous awards and honors include the Coretta Scott King Award for illustration, six Coretta Scott King Honors, the Arbuthnot Prize, and a Fulbright Scholarship. He has written and illustrated many books. Some illustrated works:The Story of the Three Kingdoms by Walter Dean Myers, A Nest Full of Stars by James Berry, and How God Fix Jonah by Lorenz Graham. Some he wrote and illustrated: Beautiful Blackbird and All Night, All Day: A Child's First Book of African-American Spirituals. Mr. Bryan studied at Cooper Union in New York City and earned a degree in philosophy at Columbia University. He lives in Isleford, Maine.

A U T H O R   S T R A N D : Nancy Werlin

Nancy Werlin is the author of seven young adult novels that cover a range of genres, from contemporary to suspense to science fiction to fantasy/romance. Her most recent book is Impossible (Dial/Penguin, 2008). Other novels include The Rules of Survival, which was a National Book Award finalist and an LA Book Prize finalist, Double Helix, and The Killer's Cousin, which won the Edgar award for best YA mystery. A R T I S T   S T R A N D : Mary Jane Begin

Mary Jane has received numerous starred reviews
and awards for books that she’s illustrated, which include Little Mouse’s Painting, Before I Go To Sleep, and her latest offering that she’s authored as well, Willow Buds-The Tale of Toad and Badger, and Willow Buds, When Toady Met Ratty–a prequel series to The Wind in the Willows.
